true friendship is like a crispy warm fluffy beignet with a cup of great coffee

my childhood friend is here!

it has been six years since we last saw each other. six years of being separated but nothing has changed!
i think time and distance is a great measure of true friendship. no matter how much time passes and/or no matter how far your friend lives, when you finally reunite and nothing seems different, you know that is a sign of a true friendship.

c and i just picked up where we left off six years ago.

it's been a fun few days hanging out with c and her love, j. they are a fun couple that loves adventure, traveling, and most importantly, great food!

we started our sunday with brunch at a DC staple, founding farmers, off pennsylvania avenue.

founding farmers is a restaurant that prides themselves in serving farm to table fare. they have two other locations across the DMV (DC-maryland-virginia) area.

this was my second time trying brunch at founding farmers.

we started off with... of course, COFFEE and BEIGNETS!!! (<----you see what i did here? the colors of the beignet sauces)

founding farmers' coffee serves the best coffee ever. even c, who normally doesn't drink any coffee, ordered a cup and enjoyed it fully with the beignets.

the beignets were huge, like hawaiian -style malasadas! it's crispy, warm, and fluffy in the inside. it comes with three delicious dipping sauces (caramel, berry, and chocolate). even for me, a not-such-a-big-fan-of-chocolate person, loved them.

j and i ordered crab cake benedicts. j ordered hers with a side of hash browns. i ordered mine with a side of tomatoes. c ordered the founding farmers' breakfast, which came with 2 eggs, applewood bacon, and homemade ciabatta bread.

we all loved our dishes and felt that we made the right choice for brunch.

after brunch we walked around georgetown to walk off the food coma. georgetown, you are growing on me. i hated wasn't a fan of you before, but i'm starting to like you.

georgetown, washington dc

great start to a sunday. i think i'm ready to start my work week!

mishka rating:
Coffee (great! no need for sugar or cream. drinkable black! cups and cups of it!)
Beignets (good as fried food gets. still think malasadas are a better treat)
Crab Benedict (english muffin is baked fresh. crab cake is simple, just the way i like it. YUM!)

  1. I too, share your love for food and good restaurants. We went to Founding Farmers last time we were in DC for brunch. So good! I always plan out my restaurants when visiting a new city too. Love your blog, so excited to read more! xo
